The "James" Weekender (45 cm) is the deliberately more compact version of our classic – developed for everyone who wants to travel light, flexibly, and stylishly. Inspired by the jet-set life of past decades, it combines the elegant vintage charm of the 60s with a modern, minimalist design language.
With its handier dimensions, this weekender is the ideal choice for short trips, business travel, or as a stylish everyday accessory. It is particularly suitable for travelers who consciously pack less – and therefore also perfect for women or anyone who prefers a lighter, more compact bag.
Crafted from full-grain, high-quality buffalo leather, this smaller version also impresses with its robustness and ability to develop an individual patina over time. Each bag is meticulously handcrafted from natural materials – durable, sustainable, and finished with great attention to detail. Reinforced stress points provide stability, while the clean lines emphasize its timeless elegance.
The well-designed interior offers ample space for clothes and travel essentials, complemented by an internal zippered compartment for valuables and a practical exterior pocket for quick access. A high-quality leather luggage tag stylishly completes the overall look.
With dimensions of 45 × 27 × 22 cm and a low net weight, the weekender is ideal as carry-on luggage – even with airlines with stricter regulations. Whether on a plane, train, or car: "James" (45 cm) is the perfect companion for everyone who travels consciously and doesn't want to compromise on style.

material

Full grain buffalo leather
During the British era in India, traditional bag making flourished. The fusion of British designs with Indian craftsmanship resulted in high-quality leather bags made from robust, vegetable-tanned buffalo leather, also known as hunter leather, which is known for its distinctive grain. In our collection we use exactly this special material to create a high-quality and authentic look. The durable Hunter leather develops a beautiful patina over time, which gives each bag a unique and personal touch.

Pure cotton lining
Our lining fabric is made from pure cotton twill, a soft and natural material. For the Outlaw collection, we have developed an inspiring signature print featuring old nautical charts that gives each piece a special touch. This high-quality cotton lining not only offers comfort, but also a stylish addition to our handmade bags.

The value of a good trip
The story behind the bags
We are Daniel and Christoph and we are living our dream. Although we are both completely different, we share a great passion: traveling. We founded the DRAKENSBERG label because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it. To see the journey as a destination and to grow from it. Because we believe that a good trip can change your whole life. The trip that changed our lives took us across South Africa almost 20 years ago. When we wanted to drive from Cape Town to the Drakensberg. But we never got there.
