Does the leather grill apron »Bob« (M-XL) fit me?

We currently offer our men's barbecue aprons in two universal sizes: (M-XL) and (XXL). Both universal sizes are adjustable at the waist and neck. The size (M-XL) is suitable for men with a waist of 90-125 cm. The size (XXL) is a classic plus size for men with a waist circumference of 110-150 cm.

What should you pay attention to when buying a leather grill apron?

Our leather grill apron »Bob« is protective equipment or work clothing for professional chefs. In the kitchen, the main thing is protection from hot fat and splashing cooking liquids. There is also the risk of burns. Extreme heat is generated on the grill in particular. Open fire can also cause flying sparks. A good grill apron should therefore provide good protection from cooking fat and flying cooking liquids. A good cooking apron also insulates against extreme heat and unwanted contact with fire sparks. The material of the grill apron should therefore have a certain strength and be insulating and flame-retardant. A leather apron made of full-grain leather meets these requirements.

What is special about the “Bob” grill apron?

Sustainability is not an advertising statement for us, but part of the design. We are concerned with authentic lifestyle accessories and fair production with natural, authentic materials. Without plastics if possible. There are currently very few manufacturers of leather barbecue aprons or bar aprons that we would look up to. Many brands continue to rely on classic chrome tanning or even the use of split leather (reducing the thickness of the leather to save costs). The term "vegan" leather is also often misleading. It usually refers to a material that is not made from animal skin, but rather from commercially available plastic. There are actually leather-like materials made from plants, but these are very expensive, rather rare and are not suitable for use as a barbecue apron. We do not use plastics in our leather barbecue aprons for men. The leather used is sustainably vegetable tanned, even if not completely without chrome. An original with rough edges, but with soul factor.

How do I clean and care for the leather grill apron »Bob«?

Basically, you should hang the leather apron on a coat hanger to air after wearing it at the grill. A leather apron does not belong in the washing machine and is not suitable for hand washing. Basically, we believe that you should be able to tell the age and the many uses of a grill apron. We therefore recommend a superficial cleaning, i.e. at most with a leather brush and leather eraser. Grease stains develop a beautiful patina over the years, just like with high-quality leather trousers. There is also liquid leather care that has a cleaning effect. However, these products should be tested according to the instructions on the packaging and on an inconspicuous area. The leather should then be lightly greased again so that it does not dry out. If you grill a lot over direct and open fire, you should think about additional fire protection impregnation. We recommend FUEERFEST® fire protection impregnation for textiles, for example. This allows our grill aprons to be upgraded to fire protection class B1 (flame-retardant) according to DIN 4102.
