Description
It all began with the idea of creating the perfect travel bag – a bag that captures the true essence of travel. We looked to the past, to a time when journeys were real adventures and travelers were true explorers. The result is the Weekender “David” – a tribute to the original culture of travel. Inspired by the iconic shape of the travel bag that first appeared in the 18th century in the Belgian town of Duffel. A piece of living history, refined with authentic and functional details.
The Weekender “David” (60 cm) is a large, sporty-elegant travel bag designed for trips of up to seven days. You can carry it casually over your shoulder using the included strap or stylishly by the leather handles. The bag opens wide for easy packing, and by loosening the side leather straps, its capacity can be expanded to up to 80 litres.
The material is built to last: the durable cotton canvas is impregnated for water resistance, featuring a natural lotus effect. The saddle leather comes from an LWG Silver-certified tannery, ensuring responsible production. The cotton is woven in a German facility that operates under the highest environmental and safety standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001). All stress points are reinforced with leather, and the padded bottom is elegantly finished with the signature DRAKENSBERG diamond-stitch – our unmistakable hallmark.

Care instructions
Cleaning canvas fabrics
1. Coarse dirt particles:
Use a soft brush to thoroughly brush the fabric. Then tap out the dust or carefully vacuum it away. This removes loose particles without damaging the material.
2. Fine dirt particles:
Lint and hair are best removed with a lint roller. However, be careful not to run the adhesive roller over leather surfaces to avoid scratches or changes to the patina.
3. Remove stains:
First, try gently rubbing stains on the canvas with carbonated water and a clean, soft cloth. If that's not enough, you can use a mild solution of hand soap and lukewarm water. Rub the stain gently and avoid harsh detergents, as they can dissolve the color pigments of the fabric.
Note: Products made of canvas and leather must not be cleaned in the washing machine.
Cleaning of leather trim:
Gently brush the leather with a soft shoe brush and remove dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth. For heavier soiling, you can use a mild soap solution. Apply it with a soft cloth, gently rub over the affected area and remove residue with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
Avoid harsh cleaning agents , as they can dry out or discolor the leather.
Impregnation & Care:
To further protect your bag from moisture, we recommend treating it completely with a colorless impregnation spray according to the manufacturer's instructions. For example, use the colorless impregnation spray from IMPRÄGNOL.
This ensures that both the canvas fabric and the leather are evenly impregnated and protected from moisture.
If the leather dries out or shows scratches over time, you can care for it with a high-quality leather balm - for example, with Dr. Gee's Leather Balm ...
Apply a small amount evenly with a soft cloth, allow it to absorb briefly, and then polish with a clean cloth.
Impregnating it every few months and applying leather care as needed is enough to keep your bag in top shape in the long run.

The value of a good trip
Our story
We are Daniel and Christoph – two very different people with a shared passion: traveling. With DRAKENSBERG, we want to inspire people to discover the true value of being on the road: to see the journey as the destination and to grow from it. Because we believe that a good journey can change a life. Our own journey began almost 20 years ago when we set off by car from Cape Town to the Drakensberg – and yet never arrived.
