The messenger bag »Milo« is a sporty shoulder bag for files, documents, laptop and valuables. Compact in size and practical in use. Inside and outside there are numerous compartments for stowing valuables such as wallets, mobile phones, cameras or writing utensils. Inside, the bag has a padded 15" notebook compartment. Also ideal as a teacher's bag.

Messenger bag »Milo« can be worn as a traditional briefcase with handle or over the shoulder as a courier bag. The shoulder strap can be removed.

The bag has a high quality finish. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside. All stress points are additionally reinforced. The underside of the bag is elegantly quilted and padded.

We are Daniel and Christoph and live our dream. We founded DRAKENSBERG because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it.

To understand the path as the true goal and to grow on it. A good journey means learning. About life and about yourself. We know that a good journey can change a whole life. Our travel bags are silent reminders of the travel spirit of the 19th and 20th century, when traveling was still an adventure and travelers were adventurers.

Handmade

Maybe you have already noticed, our bags are different. Each product is an elaborately manufactured unique piece with its own little story. The bags are almost completely handmade. We only use high quality leather and natural materials. Paying attention to sustainability and environment.

Leather is a natural material and can have small irregularities. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This elaborate process makes our products trademarked. No bag can be exactly same as another. Thus, small colour deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and are not a sign of poor quality, but uniqueness.

As a result, the shape may change slightly based on its contents. The advantage is that this vintage men's shoulder bag can be easily stored if not needed. We intentionally avoid using plastic lamination in our handbags, which is required for a rigid structure.</p> <p></p> <h3><b>Is the Briefcase "Milo," Khaki-Beige, Waterproof or Water-Resistant?</b></h3> <p>The canvas and leather men's shoulder bag is designed in the style of classic courier and postal bags from the 19th century. To maintain authenticity, we use materials similar to those available 100 years ago and strive to minimize the use of plastics and chemicals. Unfortunately, our standard canvas bag is neither waterproof nor water-resistant. However, a brief rain shower should not affect our bags. Alternatively, the shoulder bag can be treated with water repellent.</p> <p></p> <h3><b>Can the Briefcase "Milo," Khaki-Beige, Be Made Waterproof After Purchase?</b></h3> <p>The canvas shoulder bag can be effectively treated with a commercially available, colorless water-repellent spray (e.g., Impru00e4gnol). Alternatively, you can use a water-repellent wax (e.g., Dr. Gee's water-repellent wax). Keep in mind that this treatment may alter the color and texture of the bag. It's best to test the water repellency on the underside of the bag.</p> <p></p> <h3><b>What Kind of Material is the Canvas Used for the Briefcase "Milo," Khaki-Beige?</b></h3> <p>Genuine canvas is a densely woven cotton fabric with a weight of about 8oz or 225g/m2. This fabric was historically used in maritime applications for sails (canvas) and in industries for work clothing and leather goods. It's equally popular in the realm of art, with almost all famous paintings in the world created on canvas. "Canvas" is also another term for "painter's canvas." Canvas played a crucial role in the early days of cinema as well, serving as an ideal projection surface. Unfortunately, canvas was gradually replaced by plastics in many applications. In the leather goods industry, many plastic materials are incorrectly labeled as canvas. That's how it should be. This exceptionally robust leather originates from India. It is less strenuous when carrying the bag over longer distances. Our factory is a small family business where longstanding employees craft our bags with passion and dedication. Over time, our long-term collaboration has evolved into a genuine friendship. The production conditions are socially responsible and meet BSCI standards. We personally verify this regularly. Our leather and cotton fabrics are locally sourced in India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, we exclusively use dyes that are free from AZO colorants. Our leather is fundamentally vegetable-tanned, meaning it is based on plant extracts and devoid of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and environmentally acceptable, surpassing average expectations. However, we are committed to continuously improving our ecological and social footprint.</p>




Our leather production is LWG certified

Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
