Roll-up backpack »Adam« made of water repellent, waxed 22oz canvas and toughened buffalo leather is the perfect companion for adventures in nature. The special material not only offers protection against moisture, but also gives the backpack a solid shape and a distinctive character. With a variable capacity (20-30 litres), this roll-up backpack can be adapted to your needs so that it always offers enough space for your equipment. A reliable companion for hikes, camping trips or other outdoor activities.

The cargo pocket on the front offers additional storage space for smaller items that need to be at hand quickly. On the sides of the backpack are robust leather straps that are perfect for attaching additional material. A large open pocket on the side provides space for things like thermos flasks or other larger items you want to access quickly.

Each rollup backpack is handmade and therefore truly unique. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside and stress points are additionally reinforced, which ensures high durability and resistance. The attention to detail and the careful workmanship by experienced craftsmen guarantee an outstanding quality that will convince you all along the line.

We are Daniel and Christoph and live our dream. We founded DRAKENSBERG because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it.

To understand the path as the true goal and to grow on it. A good journey means learning. About life and about yourself. We know that a good journey can change a whole life. Our travel bags are silent reminders of the travel spirit of the 19th and 20th century, when traveling was still an adventure and travelers were adventurers.

The Heritage Collection

Our most sophisticated collection is specifically designed for intensive use in all weather conditions. Crafted to perfection from 22oz waxed cotton twill and toughened buffalo leather. Each bag in this collection is water resistant and offers protection for your gear, even in bad weather.

Over a year of development was required to get this collection right. Every detail was perfected. On the one hand, to emphasise the authentic character of the bags and, on the other hand, to ensure a high level of suitability for everyday use and robustness. For example, all stress points are secured with copper rivets that are individually hammered in by hand and are considered indestructible. In addition, these copper rivets develop a beautiful turquoise-green patina over time, which underlines the charm and uniqueness of this collection.

In general, the design is a declaration of love to all those who, like us, have a passion for adventure, nature and nostalgia. The bags are meant to inspire you to explore our breathtaking world, to discover new things, to understand, to find yourself and to grow from it.

Note: Leather is a natural material and may have small irregularities. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This elaborate process makes our products unmistakable. Small colour variations are unfortunately unavoidable and not a sign of poor quality.

However, the backpack is not completely waterproof and cannot be used underwater. Our workshop is a small family business whose long-term employees craft our bags with great heart and passion. Over time, our long-standing cooperation has grown into a genuine friendship. The production conditions are socially acceptable and meet BSCI standards. We regularly verify this personally. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced directly from local suppliers in India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, only dyes free of AZO colorants are used. Our leather is generally vegetable-tanned, meaning it is based on plant extracts and does not involve the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and environmentally sound, and above average. However, we strive to continue improving ourselves and further enhancing our ecological and social footprint.</p>




Our leather production is LWG certified

Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
