The value of a good trip

The story behind the bags

We are Daniel and Christoph and we are living our dream. Although we are both completely different, we share a great passion: traveling. We founded the DRAKENSBERG label because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it. To see the journey as a destination and to grow from it. Because we believe that a good trip can change your whole life. The trip that changed our lives took us across South Africa almost 20 years ago. When we wanted to drive from Cape Town to the Drakensberg. But we never got there.

Good morning,
I have been using this wallet for a month now and it meets my requirements:
- enough space for a few banknotes (tested with € and British pounds) and a few coins
- Space for a few cards (ID, driving license, bank card...) 2-3 cards fit easily per slot = 3 slots + 1 behind the coin compartment). If you like to take your card collection with you: I managed to cram 11 cards behind the coin compartment alone, but it's probably not so good for the material.
- RFID protection (I haven't tested whether I can read my own data yet and am curious to see how long the film lasts)
- Space for an emergency ID (5.5x8.5 cm, fits in a card slot)
- a blister pack of emergency medication fits behind the coin compartment 4x9.8 cm

The workmanship looks good, it is neatly sewn and properly riveted. The trademark, the small button on the front, is pleasantly unobtrusive.
I don't understand the tendency to label everything; I could have done without the saying inside, but it is also of decent quality.
At the beginning the leather is a bit stiff, so the wallet is always a little open, but this gets better over time.

Very pretty wallet. Something different with the great engraving on the inside. The man of my heart will be delighted.

The wallet is delivered with the matching linen bag in a plastic zipper. And you know from the first contact: This is not for the sensitive soul, but rather for rough fingers. But that's not meant to come across as negative. It's just different than expected, but it does have its charm. I was recently happy with my wallet because it's made of such beautiful, soft leather. I always like to pick it up. The Drakensberg wallet, on the other hand, is really not what you would call a hand-pleaser. The leather is quite stiff and hard. On the back you can also see that the button of the coin compartment is pushing through. So overall it's a bit rough, rigid, and stubbornly made. And yet the wallet is not without charm, it doesn't necessarily look cheap or anything. It's just something for the rougher fellows, hehe. The brand, which conveys the image of naturalness and outdoor life, fits in with that. I actually like it overall. Otherwise, there are three card slots, as mentioned, a coin compartment and the option to put something else in on the left and right. The large compartment for notes is of course also there, although here again the light beige lining exudes that rough charm. I'm actually not sure yet whether the storage options aren't a bit too limited for me, so I'd rather keep my current wallet for everyday use. But especially when I'm going outside, there's enough space, because in the forest, in the mountains, or at sea, you don't need most of your cards. I'd almost deduct a point for space and hardness. But then I don't think it's justified. I just like it.
