A knife roll for shared cooking moments

Familiar tools make a difference when preparing food. You might take a chef's knife to a class, cook at a friend's home or assemble a personal selection for different kitchens. A knife bag brings order to that preparation. Blade is handcrafted from buffalo leather inside and out. Which knives fit the bag?

Blade is specified for blades up to 25 cm long. Measure the blade only; the handle is not part of that figure. Open dimensions are 40 × 39 × 1 cm. Blade width, handle thickness and knife shape also matter. Assemble the knives you intend to carry before buying. Seven compartments do not imply a fit for every knife format. For unusually broad blades or handles, check the dimensions specifically.

Seven compartments for organised storage

The roll has seven separate compartments of different widths. Arrange your selection so you can see it when the bag is opened flat. A cooking class may call for different tools from a planned dinner. Choose the knives required for that occasion, then roll up the bag after packing. For additional accessories, consider the actual compartment layout rather than judging capacity by the number of slots alone.

Buffalo leather inside and out

Blade uses buffalo leather on both the outside and inside. The natural colour and texture develop an individual patina with use. Havana Brown and Coffee Brown provide different looks with the same core features. Other manufacturers may offer cowhide, PU leather, canvas or leather-and-fabric combinations. Blade's relevant specification is leather inside and out, rather than a textile knife roll.

Carry handle, attachment eyes and weight

Blade weighs 400 g without knives. It has a carry handle and two attachment eyes for a suitable optional strap. Your knives add to the total weight, so consider the journey as well as the number of compartments. Blade Pro is an alternative with a detachable shoulder strap included in its described features. Always check the selected model's contents and carrying options.

Blade Pro as a larger alternative

Blade Pro adds a larger model to the comparison. It has eight compartments, an additional zipped pocket, a handle and a detachable shoulder strap. Open dimensions are 43 × 81 × 2 cm and weight is 880 g. Its 40 cm limit refers to total knife length including the handle, unlike Blade's blade-length specification. Blade in Havana Brown and Coffee Brown remains one model in two colours.

Knife roll or knife case?

A knife roll opens flat and rolls up for carrying. A knife case has a different construction, whose suitability depends on the specific product. Choose by your workflow and knife dimensions. Home cooks may take a small selection to dinner, while professional chefs can have different needs for capacity and organisation. The term knife bag is a broad label; compartments, dimensions and carrying options provide more useful guidance.

Caring for your leather knife bag

Follow the guidance for the particular leather finish. Clean and dry knives before packing them; the bag itself has separate care requirements.
