Roll-top backpack »Ryan« is a purist daypack with a 15 inch laptop compartment. This trendy roll-top look is inspired by the backpacks of bicycle couriers that have been familiar from the world's major cities since the 90s. The highlight is that these backpacks are very variable in size and can be rolled up or down depending on the contents. »Ryan« is a charming blend of modernity and tradition. Rough soul, soft core.

The daypack is closed at the top with a zip and can be rolled up at the top, depending on the filling volume. The rolled edge is fixed at the top with a leather strap. On the outside, the bicycle backpack has two zipped compartments. One at the front and one at the side. Inside, the backpack has a padded 15" laptop compartment and another zipped compartment for valuables. The shoulder straps are adjustable in length.

Backpack »Ryan« is made almost entirely by hand. The production of a single bag takes countless hours. Only natural and sustainable materials are used. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside. All stress points are additionally reinforced. The back of the backpack is padded and elegantly stitched in "diamond stitch". Maybe you have already noticed, our bags are different. Each product is an elaborately manufactured unique piece with its own little story. The bags are almost completely handmade. We only use high quality leather and natural materials. Paying attention to sustainability and environment.

Leather is a natural material and can have small irregularities. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This elaborate process makes our products trademarked. No bag can be exactly same as another. Thus, small colour deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and are not a sign of poor quality, but uniqueness.

To be as authentic as possible, we exclusively use materials as they were used 100 years ago and try to avoid synthetic materials and chemicals. Unfortunately, our backpack is neither waterproof nor water-resistant in its standard version. However, our bags can withstand a brief rain shower. Alternatively, the backpack can be made water-resistant through impregnation.</p> <p> </p> <h3><b>Can the "Ryan" backpack, black, be made waterproof later?</b></h3> <p>The backpack can be easily impregnated afterward with a standard colorless impregnating spray (e.g., Impru00e4gnol). It's best to test the impregnation on the backside before applying it broadly. Please follow the instructions and only use the spray in a well-ventilated area. Our factory is a small family business whose long-standing employees craft our bags with a lot of heart and passion. Our long cooperation has blossomed into a genuine friendship. The production conditions are socially acceptable and comply with BSCI standards. We regularly personally ensure this. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced locally from India. Only dyes free from AZO colorants are used to dye our cotton fabrics. Our leathers are exclusively vegetable-tanned, i.e., plant-based and without the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and ecologically responsible and above average. However, it is our aim to continually improve our ecological and social "footprint".</p>




Our leather production is LWG certified

Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
